VIDEO: Argentine Referee German Delfino Facing Ban After Using Video Technology To Get Decision RIGHT

A leading referee in Argentina is facing a ban from football after using video technology – to get a decision right.
German Delfino, who is considered one of the best officials in South America, gave Velez Sarsfield a penalty and sent off Arsenal star Daniel Valencia for handling the ball in the box at the weekend.
The decision seemed fair at the time, but an instant TV replay showed the ball was actually touched by Velez striker Mariano Pavone instead, not defender Valencia.

It was shown again, and this time linesman Ivan Nunez caught the replay on a monitor near the pitch, and relayed the news to the referee.

He decided to reverse his initial decision, rescinding Valencia’s red, taking away the penalty and booking Pavone.
But, as mandated by Fifa, in Argentinean football video technology is not allowed and Velez boss Miguel Angel Russo was left furious after learning how the ref came to his new decision.
It caused a huge row on the pitch, and now ref Delfino is facing a ban.
