Certain Music Makes Your Food Taste Better, Says Scientists

Luciano Pavarotti is meant to be heighten the intensity of chocolate mousse while the Beatles is best suited to making a tastier fish and chips.
This is no joke, scientists have actually found that the right tune can bring out specific flavours from a certain dish.

Professor Charles Spence, a behavioural psychologist from Oxford University told the Observer: ‘Music cannot create taste or flavours that are not there in your mouth, but it can draw attention to certain notes in a wine or food that are competing in your mind… It’s kind of digital seasoning.’

He said there are are certain sounds match certain flavours. Sourness is ‘high-pitched’ whereas sweetness is richer sounds and bitterness works best with deep tones.

Experimental chef, Heston Blumenthal has even consulted Mr Spence on the lighting, music and design of his restaurants.
So it seems that music selection for your next dinner party just got a lot more complicated…what tunes goes with lasagne and garlic bread?
