Pictured: The Men Who Gang-Raped Nun, 72, Leaving Her For Dead

THE sick group thought to be responsible for the gang-rape of an elderly nun in India have been pictured for the first time.

Eight of the men have been detained by police after a convent school in Ranaghat, West Bengal, was ransacked on Saturday morning and the 72-year-old senior sister was raped as she tried to block their path.
The gang, thought to be made up of 12 men, tied up the other nuns before stealing money and desecrating the chapel.
CCTV images taken from a camera in the staff room have been released by police and they are offering a reward of around 100,000 rupees (£1,000) for information.

The victim needed surgery after the attack and is now in a stable condition. It is thought she also suffered a knife wound.
The Archbishop of Calcutta, Thomas d'Souza, told the BBC: "One sister was molested badly. The other two, and a guard, were tied to chairs."

The school is well known and has been open for 19 years.
Scores of angry students blocked a nearby highway and railway tracks in protest of the sickening incident.
West Bengal's Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee, has strongly condemned the attack on the convent and said an inquiry has been launched.
We strongly condemn the incident that took place at the Ranaghat Convent.
"CID (The Criminal Investigation Department) will be examining all aspects to this horrific crime. Swift, strongest action to be taken."
The state minister for urban affairs, Firhad Hakim, told the Times of India the attack was "heinous" and wanted the rapists to face the death penalty.
The vicious attack comes at a time of heightened tensions surrounding sexual violence towards women in India.
Chilling documentary, India's Daughter, was released in the UK a few days ago but has been banned in India.
The film is based on the December 2012 gang rape of a 23-year-old New Delhi student whose injuries were so horrific she died.
