Nun, 72, In Critical Condition After Being Gang-Raped Inside Convent

The men ransacked the convent school in Ranaghat, West Bengal, on Saturday morning and stole money before brewing into the convent itself.
Several of the nuns were tied up and the senior sister, aged 72, was raped as she tried to stop the men from stealing the cash.
The gang escaped and police are now searching for them.
The nun is said to be in hospital where she remains in a critical condition.
The Archbishop of Calcutta, Thomas d'Souza, told the BBC: "One sister was molested badly. The other two, and a guard, were tied to chairs."
The gang ransacked the convent, stealing money, a phone, a laptop and a sacred vessel used during Mass.


The school is well known and has been open for 19 years.
Scores of anger students have blocked a nearby highway and railway tracks remained swift police action in finding and arresting the attackers.
The vicious attack comes at a time of heightened tensions surrounding sexual violence towards women in India.
Chilling documentary, India's Daughter, was released in the UK a few days ago but has been banned in India.
The film is based on the December 2012 gang rape of a 23-year-old New Delhi student whose injuries were so horrific she died.
West bengal's Chief Minister has strongly condemned the attack on the convent and said and inquiry has been launched.
The state minister for urban affairs, Firhad Hakim, told the Times of india the attack was "heinous" and wanted the rapists to face the death penalty.
