Despite collapsing and having to crawl across the finish line, this runner managed to come in third place.
Hyvon Ngetich looked in good shape to win the race in Texas after leading the pack at a crucial point, KEYE-TV reported.
But disaster struck at mile 23 of the Austin Marathon yesterday when her body suddenly gave up on her.
Instead of quitting, the Kenyan decided to crawl more than two km to the finishing line.
There were moments where it seemed like she might not make it, and there was even a wheelchair on standby, but in the end she got there unaided.
The winner of the women’s race Kenya’s Cynthia Jerop finished in a time of 2:54:22, which was well within Ngetich’s reach, who has a personal best of 2:34:42.
