First Marijuana Vending Machine Opens In Seattle, America

This is a good day to be a weed smoker in Seattle, because today the city is getting its very first marijuana vending machine.

According to Yahoo the machine, which will be situated in the Seattle caregivers medical dispensary, will stock a wide range of medicinal and recreational marijuana flowers, pot-infused edibles and merchandise.

But before you go applying for an, er, green card, we should let you know that the machine won’t dispense weed to just anyone. It’s fitted out with an advanced ID scanner, and according to Geek Wire it will only dispense weed to those with the relevant medical documentation.

Stephen Shearin, president and chief operating officer of American Green (the company behind the machine), said: ‘This is an exciting time in Seattle’s cannabis community, and is representative of what can happen anywhere — laws permitting’

Recreational marijuana was legalised in Washington state last year, and presumably if this machine proves popular, more will be rolled out (excuse the pun) throughout the state.
