EFCC Press Release: EFCC Arrests Three Suspected Impostors For N73.8m Securities Scam

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has arrested three suspected fraudsters involved in forgery, personation and fraudulent sale of shares to the tune of N73,764,428( Seventy Three Million, Seven Hundred and Sixty Four Thousand, Four Hundred Twenty Eight Naira ).

Muhammed Rabiu Lawan (a.k.a Alhaji Shande Ako Dzungwe and Alhaji Isa Koto); Raphael Olorunfemi Okomoda, Adebgesan Theophilius and four others who are still at large, were arrested by operatives of the Commission following a report of fraudulent sale of shares of two deceased shareholders by the suspects.  The stocks originally belong to Alhaji Shande Ako Dzungwe and   Alhaji Isa Koto (both deceased) but were fraudulently claimed, converted and sold by the three suspects.

Lawan allegedly forged spurious Identity Cards, Drivers License; School Certificates and International Passports of both Dzungwe and Koto, to perfect the scam.   

Body Of 9 Year Old Girl Found In Mother’s Refrigerator One Month After Her Death

This is just a sad, strange story. Via KHOU:  The father of a 9-year-old girl whose body was found Monday in the refrigerator of an apartment says he thought his daughter was still alive.

Police were called to the Happy Home Apartments in the 10100 block of Club Creek .

The neighbor told police he became concerned about the girl because he hadn’t seen her in a few months. He said the front door was unlocked, so he went in to check on the girl, and that’s when he found the body inside a refrigerator.

Paramedics arrived and determined the girl had already passed away, police said. Investigators believe the child had been dead for at least a month.

Jealous Lover Kills Rival, Eats His Heart

A jealous lover in South Africa stabbed a rival, cut out his heart and ate it with a knife and fork, police and media reported Thursday.

Police were called to the gruesome scene at a house in Cape Town’s Gugulethu township by frantic neighbours, spokesman Frederick van Wyk told the Cape Times.

“On the scene they found a suspect, a Zimbabwean national, busy eating the heart of a human with a knife and fork,” he said.

The woman at the centre of the love triangle told police that her former lover had visited the house where she was living with her current partner and they had chatted together before he gave her money to buy liquor and she left.

A new academic re­cord was set in Af­rica on Wednesday when a 24-year-old student of the University of Lagos, Hallowed Olaoluwa, bagged a doctorate degree in Mathematics for the 2012/2013 session.

With a cumulative grade Point average of 5.0, Olaolu­wa had the best Ph.D thesis, as well emerged the young­est African scholar, displac­ing Olabisi Adeyemi who had graduated from the same insti­tution with 4.98 in 2012 at the age of 26, as well as Opeyemi Shodipe of Babcock univer­sity who graduated the same year at 25.

The award was conferred on him and other 104 stu­dents who had successfully completed their Doctor of Philosophy at the concluding convocation ceremony of the university, held at the Multi-purpose Hall.

Police Ordered To Arrest Sanusi, New Emir Of Kano, For “Fraud”

The Nigerian police have been ordered to arrest the newly-crowned Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, on fraud-related charges stemming from his tenure as Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

According to reliable sources at the Presidency in Abuja, the team of policemen at the Emir’s palace in Kano received the order from the Nigeria police headquarters to place Mr. Sanusi under arrest if he leaves the Kano Governor’s lodge.

The sources told SaharaReporters that Mr. Sanusi was to be arrested at his private home on Sunday night after his appointment was announced by the Kano State Governor.  It would be recalled that the presidency embarked on several frantic measures to frustrate the former CBN governor’s emergence as Emir, including the premature congratulations of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to one of the candidates before the choice was announced.

 ‘They were trying to have sex on the balcony. The guy was lifting the girl and putting her on the bannister, he kept on doing it.You could see they were doing some really dangerous stuff.At some point friends must have come outside and they got down and came back inside and then came back out again. They started doing it again.You see people on the balcony doing all sorts of things and I just felt they will probably go back inside. The last thing I expected was to see them falling down. We just screamed.’

PREMIUM TIMES: is reporting that Kano State governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, on Wednesday accused President Goodluck Jonathan of plotting to eliminate him, in a fresh twist to a longstanding row between the two leaders.

In an exclusive interview with PREMIUM TIMES Wednesday, Mr. Kwankwaso said the president was after his life and had ordered the withdrawal of half of his security details in a ploy to open him up to physical attacks.

“I have told my friends, and people of Kano, Nigerians and indeed the international community to hold Jonathan responsible for whatever happens to Kwankwaso, his family or even the people of Kano state,” Mr. Kwankwaso said at Kano State governor’s lodge in Abuja. Video after the cut....
