This is the dramatic moment a newborn baby was found by police after his teenage mother abandoned him in a toilet.
The police officers from Shenyang xiazhuang police station in China received a tip-off about the abandoned baby after neighbours heard it crying and sobbing in an apartment building.
Police found the baby still covered in blood laying naked and alone in a small amount of toilet water.
Eyewitnesses watched as a police officer scooped the crying baby out of the bowl. He then took the baby's umbilical cord and placenta along with him.
The tot's hands were twitching as he let out sobs after laying in the shallow water for hours. The cold had turned his face purple and had made it difficult for him to breathe.
But the officer wrapped the baby in a warm blanket and rushed him to Shenyang third People's Hospital for treatment.
Shortly after the shocking discovery, officers from Shenyang branch launched a manhunt to find his mother.
They contacted the managers of the apartment building where the mum lived and asked staff to help them find her while other officers searched alternative places.
Half-an-hour later, a 19-year-old woman was found slumped on the floor unconscious near where the baby was uncovered inside the same bathroom. She was rushed to hospital where she received treatment.
According to police, the teenage mum lived with her boyfriend but became scared after she discovered she was pregnant.
She told police that she had kept it a secret from her family as she was too scared to tell them she was pregnant.
On April 14, the woman began to experience labour pains and gave birth to the baby on the toilet floor. Their roommate overheard the woman's screams and saw the baby covered in blood.
After the birth, the pair panicked and dumped the baby in the bathroom behind a partition.The teenage mum experienced postpartum hemorrhaging and heart pressure and collapsed.
Police said the mother and two other people were in hospital in the city of Shenyang.
Her family rushed to her bedside after they learnt of the baby's birth and will now help her to raise the baby.
