A new book, called Champagne Supernova, claims Kate's life spiralled out of control after her split from Hollywood actor Johnny Depp
The sordid details of Kate Moss’ personal life have been revealed in a new book.Champagne Supernova reveals the lows the supermodel stooped to following the break-up of her relationship with Johnny Depp.
The book, written by Maureen Callahan, states: “Johnny broke her heart. She went mad’. She was spinning out of control on drugs - heroin and booze. ‘She just wouldn’t stop with the drugs and the drinking’.”
However prior to that the book claims Kate was already on a downward spiral due to her sudden rise to fame.
Callahan writes that Kate was drinking a lot at that time and went through periods of staying in bed for up to two weeks at a time.
Kate herself said at the time: “Nobody takes care of you mentally.I thought I was going to die.”
When she met Johnny, the model didn’t slow down. In fact according to Callahan the pair encouraged each other.
She writes: “Both had ravenous appetites for alcohol, drugs, cigarettes, sex. Kate was the accidental supermodel, Depp the punk-rock Beat poet who just happened to become a movie star.”
Following the split Kate, who is now happily married to Jamie Hince, reportedly spiralled even further out of control.
Back in London she began hanging out with the Primrose Hill set. A colleague told Callahan: “They all partied together, slept together. It was a very soulless life they led.”
Kate herself has previously admitted it was a chaotic time, saying previously: “I was living fast,' Kate said of that time. 'It was, "Sleep? Why? Why not go on? There’s too much to do.'”
The model eventually ended up in rehab centre – The Priory - for five weeks.
In 2005 she hit headlines when she was pictured snorting cocaine, another period in rehab followed.
A spokesperson for Kate has been contacted for comment.
