What?? Did Eminem really just admit that he was gay?
Well, yes he did BUT it is actually a fantastically funny scene from the controversial new film The Interview.
In the scene James Franco is playing David Skylark, a cheesy TV host who pulls off the celebrity scoop of the century.
Eminem has previously provoked controversy over allegations of sexism and homophobia in his lyrics and when Franco’s character brings this up the rap star shockingly confesses:
“When I say things about gay people and people think that my lyrics are homophobic, you know, it’s because I’m gay.”
Asked to clarify, he bluntly continues: “I’m a homosexual… I like men.”
Behind the scenes, Seth Rogen’s show runner is having a meltdown, yelling, “This is the greatest moment in gay history.”
Another character shouts “Gay twitter is blowing up.”
And in fact twitter did blow up when the film debuted in American cinemas on Christmas Day and this clip starting circulating online.
One person tweeted:
"I'm DYING watching #TheInterview...@Eminem killed his part. 'I've been playing gay peekaboo!' "
Another said:
"Man!!! Eminem gay??? on #TheInterview I love how they portray the craziness over a celebrity coming out. LOL! #Hilarious”
Of course, the film had already been at the centre of a media storm after it was pulled from release schedules on December 17 following a terrorist threat.
