When it comes to speaking his mind, martial arts
actor Jackie Chan isn't pulling
any punches.
In particular, when he's expressing his views on
the United States.
During a recent interview on Chinese television,
the Hong Kong native called America "the most corrupt country in the
world," the Washington Post reports
While Chan, a staunch supporter of the Chinese
Communist Party, admitted that China is certainly dealing with corruption of
its own, he noted that the country is "making progress," before he
continued to take aim at the United States.
"Where does this Great Breakdown [financial
crisis] come from?" the Rush Hour
star said in Chinese. (The Ministry of Tofu translated his comments into
English.) "It started exactly from the world, the United States. When I
was interviewed in the U.S., people asked me, I said the same thing."
Of course, such remarks shouldn't come as a
complete shock as Chan has been pretty open politically in the past.
Chan once said, according to the Post, "Chinese people need to be
controlled, otherwise they will do whatever they want," while defending
China's decision to censor his films.
