BRT Management Warns Protesting Workers



Protesting workers of the city’s Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) have been warned not to allowed themselves to be used to cause confusion by some disgruntle elements.
Workers of the BRT down tools and embarked on a protest on Saturday over their conditions of service. The action caused serious traffic problem, as commuters were stranded
But reacting to the situation, the spokesperson of BRT, Chief Sunday Yusuff, said the action of the workers was uncalled for, adding that the management has been doing everything to satisfy the workers
Yusuff explained that the action of the workers was against the labour laws, as the workers did not give room for negotiation before embarking on the protest.
Yusuff, who is also the deputy state chairman of The National Union Of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), stated the management as a matter of policy, usually makes sure that salaries and allowances of workers are paid on or before 25th of every month.
Yusuff expressed them belief that there must be some people instigating the workers against the management.
He said the management is going to hold a meeting with the workers to get to the root of the problem and to prevent future occurrence.
