‘We’ll save our son, no matter what the cost’

A Chinese couple have begged for help after their three-year-old son’s head swelled to twice the normal size.
Hao Hao has hydrocephalus – a condition where cerebrospinal fluid builds up in the brain cavities.
Normal treatments have failed, mother Ding Meiling says, and the child now needs surgery to drain the fluid and install a plastic tube.
Ding says that Hao Hao’s twin died at three months old after being born prematurely – and Hao Hao’s head began to swell at age two.
‘I’ve been worn out by the treatment but I don’t want to give up,’ she said. ‘We’ll save him whatever the cost.’

‘I don’t have any solution now. I hope people with kind hearts can help my son.’
Father Cai Meiba, of Xiushui County, Jiujiang City, says the family has been left £12,700 in debt from hospital charges.

He said, ‘Doctors suggested us to arrange the surgery, but we have no money. We are desperately hoping someone could help our son.’
